Disability Access Statement For Cheverton Copse Holiday Park


Cheverton Copse is a static caravan park and we strive to ensure that all of our guests can enjoy the accommodation, facilities and surroundings within our Park. Our aim is to help in anyway that we can and if you require any assistance whilst planning your visit or during your stay, we will be delighted to help.


  • We have 57 static caravans and a cottage available for hire.
  • We offer booking assistance by fax, telephone or email.
  • If a copy of this access statement is required, we can post, fax or email one out to you.
  • If you have any special requirements, please specify at time of booking and we will be happy to advise you.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • Our car park is located to the front of our Park and is tarmac with 60 parking bays marked out (with 1 marked disabled parking bay)
  • There are no cars allowed on the static caravan area for reasons of safety and noise pollution.
  • The car park is adjacent to the static caravan park and we have several caravans which are close to the car park.
  • Please ask at time of booking if a caravan close to the car park will be required.
  • The checking in procedure is carried out in the Reception which is clearly signposted from the car park

Main Entrance & Reception

  • The Reception area is 15 metres from the car park and is clearly signposted.
  • There are 5 steps up to the Reception, each step being 19cm high.
  • The door width is 84cm.

The Reception is always staffed when open therefore assistance is always available during the Reception opening hours.

There is no 24 hour Reception service available on the Park however the reception is open from 9am daily and staff are resident on the Park. Should there be an emergency there is a doorbell at the Reception door and contact numbers are available on the Reception entrance and also in the information folder in each caravan.

Tourist Information booklets and leaflets are available from Reception.

Public Areas – General

The Park itself is in a rural area and therefore the ground is sloping in places, with some uneven bumps and dips due to the wildlife we have in our area! The park is mainly grassed with small paved areas at the steps to each caravan. There are tables/benches provided throughout the park. At night the park is well lit with high and low level lighting.

There is a tarmac slope to the lower area of the park which is 25 metres long, with a gradient of 1 in 6.

Assistance is available from our staff during office hours.

Public Areas – WC

We have a two separate male and female toilet/shower blocks available for public use. The male shower block has one step at the entrance measuring 19cm, with a door width of 73cm. The female toilet block has one step at the entrance measuring 10cm, with a door width of 73cm.

The shower cubicle doorways measure 55cm wide with the inside of the cubicle being wider than this

Bar & Games Room

  • The Bar and Games room is a separate building next to Reception.
  • The Bar is accessible through the Games Room. The Main entrance to the Games Room has two steps, each measuring 26cm. The door opening measures 84cm – 140cm. There is also a Bar terrace area which has 4 steps measuring 18cm each, and a doorway measuring 71cm.
  • Wheelchair access to the Bar and Games Room is available via the back door which is ramped.
  • Once inside the Bar and Games Room, there are no steps.
  • There are tables and chairs inside the Bar area which can be moved around if required.
  • There are male and female toilets in the Games Room with a door width of 67cm.
  • The bar serving area is 120cm high with a gated hatch area for low level serving.


The laundry is located next to the shower block at the top of a gradual sloped concrete path. There is a small step (5cm) to access the laundry with the door width of 70cm.

The laundry is on one level, with a vinyl floor surface.

Shop Facilities

We have no shop on site as there is a Morissons supermarket and Aldi store two minutes drive from the Park. We do have Isle of Wight Maps and Guides available to purchase from Reception.

Outdoor Facilities

There are three children’s play areas. Two have a rubberized play surface and the other has a chipped bark surface. This is enclosed with a wooden plinth edging 20cm high.

Seating is available around the play areas.

Accommodation – Self Catering Caravans

The static caravans all have steps to the entrance ranging from one step to four steps. Each step is typically 20cm high. All caravans with 3 or 4 treads have handrails. Most other caravans have a handrail with a few exceptions. If a handrail is required, please ensure that this is requested at time of booking.

Door widths of the caravans range from 60 – 70cm.

Each caravan comprises or a kitchen area with vinyl flooring, oven, hob, kitchen units and worktops at a height of 90cm. A bathroom with shower, which has a small step over ranging from 15-33cm in height dependent on unit, wc (separate from the shower in some units) and hand basin at 802cm in height.  A ounge/dining area and either 2 or 3 bedrooms, consisting of either 2 small single or 1 double bed.  Wardrobe space and bedside table.  In most units a single bed and bedside table can be removed to allow for extra floor space.

There are no pets and no smoking permitted in any of our caravans.

Additional Information

Mobile telephone coverage is good on the park.

Chargeable WiFi Internet access is available throughout the park.

Television reception on the Park is excellent which is run through a digital system, with multiple channels available in all caravans.

Our Reception staff have completed a ‘Welcome All’ training course in disability awareness.

Future Plans

We are looking at introducing a wheelchair accessible caravan in the future.

We are also planning to introduce a ramped access into Reception.
